This delightful program is the perfect way for participants to welcome the season of renewal and warmth by creating their own spring-inspired tea towels using vibrant fabric markers. \nAt the beginning of our workshop\, each participant will receive a high-quality\, blank tea towel made from premium fabric – an ideal canvas for their artistic expressions. Alongside\, a spectrum of non-toxic\, bright fabric markers awaits\, ready to bring their designs to life. \nOur session kicks off with an introduction to fabric art and the effective use of fabric markers. We’ll share inspiring ideas and techniques to help spark creativity – from floral patterns and spring motifs to abstract designs that capture the essence of the season. \nWhether you’re an experienced artist or trying this for the first time\, our workshop is designed to cater to all skill levels. As we delve into the creative process\, participants are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild. \nThey can choose to follow traditional spring themes like blooming flowers\, butterflies\, and birds\, or create something entirely unique that represents their personal connection to spring. SUMMARY:Free Tax Clinics
DESCRIPTION:Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)\, we will be hosting free tax clinics from February 24 through April 27\, 2024. Volunteers will file tax returns for individuals and couples with a modest income and a simple tax situation; see below for eligibility guidelines. \nNOTICE: Clicking the registration link below will open a form to add your name to the waiting list. A volunteer will contact you directly to schedule a date and time for your tax appointment.  \nIn order to be eligible for the CVITP\, individuals must have a modest income of $35\,000.00 for an Individual\, $ 45\,000.00 for a couple\, and a simple tax situation. \nThis may include: \n\nadults 65 years and older\nhousing-insecure individuals\nIndigenous Peoples\nmodest-income individuals\nnewcomers\npersons with disabilities\nstudents\n\nIn general\, a tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources: \n\nemployment\npension\nbenefits\, such as the Canada Pension Plan\, Old Age Security\, disability insurance\, employment insurance\, and social assistance\nRegistered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)\nscholarships\, fellowships\, bursaries\, or grants\ninterest (under $1\,000)\n\nThe CVITP does not provide training or support for complex tax situations. Volunteers will not complete returns with the following: \n\nself-employment income or employment expenses\nbusiness income and expenses\nrental income and expenses\ninterest income over $1\,000\ncapital gains or losses\nbankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before\, if that return has not yet been filed)\ndeceased person\nforeign property (T1135)\nforeign income

DESCRIPTION:Reading Buddies is a 4 wk. literacy program for children to practice and build their reading skills and self-confidence through mentorship.\n\n\nI IMPORTANT: When you register for a time slot you will be committing to the same time each week for 4 weeks. We will place little buddies with the same big buddy each week. \nReading Buddies is a literacy program for children to practice and build their reading skills and self-confidence through mentorship with an older student. Reading Buddies is open to children grades 1 to 3\, who are reading. \nYounger students benefit from the experience of reading practice with a positive role model\, where they can improve their fluency with a patient and empathetic mentor. \nSession is offered from March 23 – April 13\, 2024Ages 5+ (must be able to read)

DESCRIPTION:Join ‘Canva Creations’ at WBPL Makerspace for an easy intro to graphic design.\n\n\nWelcome to “Canva Creations: Graphic Design Made Easy\,” a program offered at the WBPL Makerspace that’s perfect for aspiring designers and anyone interested in crafting visually stunning projects with ease.  \nCanva is an intuitive\, user-friendly platform that makes graphic design accessible to everyone\, regardless of experience. In this introductory session\, participants will get to know the basics of Canva\, including how to navigate the interface\, utilize the vast library of templates\, and customize designs with text\, colors\, and images. Whether you’re looking to design social media graphics\, flyers\, presentations\, or just want to explore your creative side\, this workshop is for you.  \nYou’ll learn to create eye-catching designs with drag-and-drop ease and gain insight into basic design principles that will help make your work pop. Our hands-on approach means you’ll be putting theory into practice right away\, creating your own designs during the workshop. By the end of the program\, you’ll be able to craft beautiful graphics for any purpose and will have the confidence to continue exploring the potential of Canva.  \nStep into the world of graphic design with “Canva Creations” and watch your creativity soar! \nThe program will be located in the Digital Lab at the Wasaga Beach Public Library.
