You can be creative with some finer details like pockets or personalize with finishing touches. \nNote: This is not a beginner level workshop. Basic sewing machine skills required. This session is suitable for those who have completed WBPL’s “Machine Basics” class. \nThis class will be held on two consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning November 20th and concluding November 27th. DESCRIPTION:Join renowned artist Laura Steels Hitchcock for a vibrant\, hands-on coloured pencil workshop.\n\n\nWBPL’s Artsy Adults Project funded by the Ontario Government’s Seniors Community Grant is excited to offer the opportunity to dive deeper into the world of coloured pencils with Laura Steels Hitchcock\, an award-winning coloured pencil wildlife portrait artist. \nThis engaging experience will take you on a journey through various techniques\, including layering\, blending\, and creating intricate textures. You’ll discover how to mix colours effectively and use various pencil types to achieve stunning effects. All materials will be provided—just bring your creativity and a willingness to explore! \nWBPL’s Artsy Adults Project is targeted to participants ages 55+ who have a WBPL library card. The workshops are free to attend and all materials will be provided. \nImportant Registration Details\nBecause WBPL expects high interest in Artsy Adults programs\, the library is implementing a lottery system to help ensure that as many older adults as possible are able to participate in the 10 creative programs planned for 2024/2025. \nTo participate\, please sign up on the waiting list for the programs that interest you by the specified cut-off date. Library staff will randomly select participants from the waiting list approximately 15 days prior to a program. These successful candidates will receive notification by email (or phone call if email is not available) and will be required to respond to confirm their seats.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique experience where we’ll transform the library using VR art!\n\n\nUsing Tilt Brush software on our Meta Quest 2 VR headsets\, we will create a fully virtual art installation within the library! Each participant will have 30 minutes to paint anything they like over the real-life library environment. In the first week\, we’ll be transforming the junior fiction section\, and in the second week\, we’ll focus on the adult art wall. SUMMARY:Home Horizon Youth Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Our Your S.A.F.E. outreach program works with additional vulnerable youth to identify safe living spaces and provides direction to assist them in regaining control of their lives. Our S.A.F.E. outreach programs serve youth aged 16-29. Since the launch of this program in July 2020\,we have served 127 youth\, with over 1085 service interactions (referrals\, goalsetting\, supplies\, workshops\, etc.)\, many in the Wasaga Beach area. \nThrough our outreach services\, we supply important items such as tents\, sleeping bags\, food\, hygiene products\, grocery gift cards\, masks & sanitizers\, jackets\, hand warmers\, clothes\, and much more. \nThe program also provides support and advocacy for mental health\, physical health (new family doctor)\, legal matters\, financial aid\, rental/tenant advocacy as well as referrals to other housing agencies. \nThe program has been an incredible success to date. It helps one of our most vulnerable populations to avoid falling through the cracks\, providing every individual who come in contact with our outreach worker the chance to feel safe and heard. We work with all marginalized youth regardless of their race\, gender\, sexual orientation\, family situations and socio-economic background. \nOur programs are designed to assist youth struggling with social inequalities with tools that will help them to cope and grow stronger to manage and address any bias they face in life.
