DESCRIPTION:Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)\, we will be hosting free tax clinics from February 27 through April 26\, 2025. Volunteers will file tax returns for individuals and couples with a modest income and a simple tax situation; see below for eligibility guidelines. \nNOTICE: Clicking the registration link below will open a form to add your name to the waiting list. A volunteer will contact you directly to schedule a date and time for your tax appointment.  \nIn order to be eligible for the CVITP\, individuals must have a modest income of $35\,000.00 for an Individual\, $ 45\,000.00 for a couple\, and a simple tax situation. \nThis may include: \n\nadults 65 years and older\nhousing-insecure individuals\nIndigenous Peoples\nmodest-income individuals\nnewcomers\npersons with disabilities\nstudents\n\nIn general\, a tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources: \n\nemployment\npension\nbenefits\, such as the Canada Pension Plan\, Old Age Security\, disability insurance\, employment insurance\, and social assistance\nRegistered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)\nscholarships\, fellowships\, bursaries\, or grants\ninterest (under $1\,000)\n\nThe CVITP does not provide training or support for complex tax situations. Join us with guest speaker Judith\, who will share her knowledge of fashion and clothing styles through the decades. \nShe will help to reveal some of the mysteries and stories to be told in old photos based on visual cues around clothing. Learn about clothing styles and trends through the decades\, military dress\, and accessories worn\, such as hats and jewelry you may see in your photographic treasures. \nLearn some detective skills to assist in dating your photos to narrow in on a photo’s era. Judith will focus her presentation on the late 1800s to WW1. Feel free to bring a photo of interest you’d like to learn more about and Judith will try her best to unravel the mysteries within by revealing what she sees. \nAbout the speaker: \nJudith is a local retiree with a background in museum archives and a specialization in the collection management of textiles. She is a historical interpreter and volunteer with the Collingwood Museum.

SUMMARY:Home Horizon Youth Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Our Your S.A.F.E. outreach program works with additional vulnerable youth to identify safe living spaces and provides direction to assist them in regaining control of their lives. Our S.A.F.E. outreach programs serve youth aged 16-29. Since the launch of this program in July 2020\,we have served 127 youth\, with over 1085 service interactions (referrals\, goalsetting\, supplies\, workshops\, etc.)\, many in the Wasaga Beach area. \nThrough our outreach services\, we supply important items such as tents\, sleeping bags\, food\, hygiene products\, grocery gift cards\, masks & sanitizers\, jackets\, hand warmers\, clothes\, and much more. \nThe program also provides support and advocacy for mental health\, physical health (new family doctor)\, legal matters\, financial aid\, rental/tenant advocacy as well as referrals to other housing agencies. \nThe program has been an incredible success to date. It helps one of our most vulnerable populations to avoid falling through the cracks\, providing every individual who come in contact with our outreach worker the chance to feel safe and heard. We work with all marginalized youth regardless of their race\, gender\, sexual orientation\, family situations and socio-economic background. \nOur programs are designed to assist youth struggling with social inequalities with tools that will help them to cope and grow stronger to manage and address any bias they face in life.

This program offers an array of FREE courses\, including Core Upgrading\, Career and College Preparation\, and Employment Readiness courses. Additionally\, comprehensive support is available for individuals preparing to write their General Education Development (GED) test. \nWith classes currently offered in both Collingwood and Wasaga Beach\, learners can opt for either in-class or remote delivery. Ages 3 – 4.\n\n\n📌 Age 3–4 (currently in school or starting school in September 2025) \n🗓️ 8 Week Program: Wednesdays from March 19th to May 7th \nJoin us for an engaging Learn to Read program led by an Everybody Reads educational consultant\, designed to support parents and children in creating a positive and nurturing learning experience. Over eight weeks\, participants will build essential reading skills that pave the way for lifelong learning and academic success. \nEach child will receive a workbook for program use and participate in weekly group sessions that include personalized checkups and one-on-one instruction with the facilitator. \nRegistration is required\, and space is limited. Participants must commit to attending all eight sessions. Library membership is required\, so please have your Wasaga Beach Public Library card ready. Reserve a spot for your child only—parental attendance is mandatory.

DESCRIPTION:Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)\, we will be hosting free tax clinics from February 27 through April 26\, 2025. Volunteers will file tax returns for individuals and couples with a modest income and a simple tax situation; see below for eligibility guidelines. \nNOTICE: Clicking the registration link below will open a form to add your name to the waiting list. A volunteer will contact you directly to schedule a date and time for your tax appointment.  \nIn order to be eligible for the CVITP\, individuals must have a modest income of $35\,000.00 for an Individual\, $ 45\,000.00 for a couple\, and a simple tax situation. \nThis may include: \n\nadults 65 years and older\nhousing-insecure individuals\nIndigenous Peoples\nmodest-income individuals\nnewcomers\npersons with disabilities\nstudents\n\nIn general\, a tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources: \n\nemployment\npension\nbenefits\, such as the Canada Pension Plan\, Old Age Security\, disability insurance\, employment insurance\, and social assistance\nRegistered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)\nscholarships\, fellowships\, bursaries\, or grants\ninterest (under $1\,000)\n\nThe CVITP does not provide training or support for complex tax situations. Volunteers will not complete returns with the following: \n\nself-employment income or employment expenses\nbusiness income and expenses\nrental income and expenses\ninterest income over $1\,000\ncapital gains or losses\nbankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before\, if that return has not yet been filed)\ndeceased person\nforeign property (T1135)\nforeign income
