DESCRIPTION:Let’s make a Christmas sweater that’s anything but pretty.\n\n\n📌 Ages: Adults💳 Wasaga Beach Public Library card required for registration. \nUgly Christmas sweaters are trending for holiday parties but not everyone has one.  Now there are no excuses and you can arrive in festive style with attire sure to start conversations. \nYou bring the shirt or sweater to transform and we will work on the “ugly”.  Using glue guns and sewing needles\, participants will design and embellish their sweaters with provided Christmas decorations such as ornaments and tinsel.  Creativity is up to you and to the degree of ugly you are willing to wear!    \nYou may wish to repurpose some old decorations of your own that don’t get used year to year for yourself or to share with others. \nIf you have the desire to take it to a new level to be the life of the party and incorporate battery operated mini-lights in your design\, please visit a local dollar store to purchase these and bring them with you on craft night. \nRemember to save the date for Dec 11 when you can return to the library to show off your design at a Christmas Sweater Social and Games Night.

DESCRIPTION:Sew a casserole carrier to safely transport your warm dishes to holiday gatherings.\nThis is a two-session workshop: December 10 & 17.\n\n\n📌 Ages: Adults💳 Wasaga Beach Public Library card required for registration. \nJoin our sewing coach volunteers for a step-by-step workshop where you’ll learn how to sew and do simple machine quilting to create a casserole carrier—perfect for getting your party dishes from point A to point B. \nThis is a two-session class\, and participants must be able to attend both dates: December 10 and 17. \nPrerequisite: Previous participation in a WBPL Machine Basics class or confidence as an experienced sewing machine user. \nPlease come prepared with the following required supplies:• 0.75 metres of cotton fabric (from a 115 cm-wide bolt).– You will need two 60 cm x 60 cm squares.• Note: Thermal fleece lining will be provided by WBPL. \nPlease pre-wash and iron your fabric so it’s ready to cut. Irons will also be available at the library before class if you’d like to arrive early.Space is very limited (6 spots). If your plans change after registering\, please let us know so we can offer your spot to another participant.

SUMMARY:Home Horizon Youth Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Our Your S.A.F.E. outreach program works with additional vulnerable youth to identify safe living spaces and provides direction to assist them in regaining control of their lives. Our S.A.F.E. outreach programs serve youth aged 16-29. Since the launch of this program in July 2020\,we have served 127 youth\, with over 1085 service interactions (referrals\, goalsetting\, supplies\, workshops\, etc.)\, many in the Wasaga Beach area. \nThrough our outreach services\, we supply important items such as tents\, sleeping bags\, food\, hygiene products\, grocery gift cards\, masks & sanitizers\, jackets\, hand warmers\, clothes\, and much more. \nThe program also provides support and advocacy for mental health\, physical health (new family doctor)\, legal matters\, financial aid\, rental/tenant advocacy as well as referrals to other housing agencies. \nThe program has been an incredible success to date. It helps one of our most vulnerable populations to avoid falling through the cracks\, providing every individual who come in contact with our outreach worker the chance to feel safe and heard. We work with all marginalized youth regardless of their race\, gender\, sexual orientation\, family situations and socio-economic background. \nOur programs are designed to assist youth struggling with social inequalities with tools that will help them to cope and grow stronger to manage and address any bias they face in life.

DESCRIPTION:Weekly meetings for those recovering from compulsive overeating. \nOvereaters Anonymous(OA) is a Fellowship of individuals who\, through shared experience\, strength\, and hope\, are recovering from compulsive overeating.  We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.  There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions\, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization\, political movement\, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.  Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviours and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.\nOA gathers weekly on Wednesdays in the Group Study Room at the Wasaga Beach Public Library from 6:30-7:45 PM.
