DESCRIPTION:Join us each Tuesday evening in February\, for a four-week series of art skills taught by talented local secondary school artists.\n\n\nAges 10 -14 years. Registration required. Must commit to all four weeks. \nFeb 6: Week 1 – Introduction – The process of Painting With Watercolor \nProject of the week – Experiment with different processes of watercolor painting through painting three different sunsets (one starting with pencil\, one starting with pen\, and one starting with watercolor as the base). \nFeb 13: Week 2 – Layering and shadows/highlights \nProject of the week – Paint a tree using the techniques demonstrated. Use your own creative approach and experiment with different shades of paint to create the dimensions of tree bark. \nFeb 20: Week 3 – Texture \nProject of the week – Paint an animal of your choosing\, incorporating learned texture skills as you paint. \nFeb 27: Week 4 – Combining what you have learned \nProject of the week – Paint a scene of your choosing incorporating the skills you learned these past three weeks.

DESCRIPTION:Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)\, we will be hosting free tax clinics from February 24 through April 27\, 2024. Volunteers will file tax returns for individuals and couples with a modest income and a simple tax situation; see below for eligibility guidelines. \nNOTICE: Clicking the registration link below will open a form to add your name to the waiting list. A volunteer will contact you directly to schedule a date and time for your tax appointment.  \nIn order to be eligible for the CVITP\, individuals must have a modest income of $35\,000.00 for an Individual\, $ 45\,000.00 for a couple\, and a simple tax situation. \nThis may include: \n\nadults 65 years and older\nhousing-insecure individuals\nIndigenous Peoples\nmodest-income individuals\nnewcomers\npersons with disabilities\nstudents\n\nIn general\, a tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources: \n\nemployment\npension\nbenefits\, such as the Canada Pension Plan\, Old Age Security\, disability insurance\, employment insurance\, and social assistance\nRegistered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)\nscholarships\, fellowships\, bursaries\, or grants\ninterest (under $1\,000)\n\nThe CVITP does not provide training or support for complex tax situations. Volunteers will not complete returns with the following: \n\nself-employment income or employment expenses\nbusiness income and expenses\nrental income and expenses\ninterest income over $1\,000\ncapital gains or losses\nbankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before\, if that return has not yet been filed)\ndeceased person\nforeign property (T1135)\nforeign income

From sultry Jazz with Latin flair; upbeat Caribbean vibes of the steel pan drum; classic Country and toe-tapping favourites to barbershop acapella harmonies\, there’s something to please every acoustic palette in this extravaganza of cultural sound. \nLight refreshments will be provided during a 15-minute intermission. \nTransportation assistance will be available for isolated seniors and clients registered for Red Cross transportation services. In the kitchen children utilize all five senses. \nMotor: Being actively involved with food will help large and fine motor skills\, as well food preparation helps develop hand eye coordination. \nSocial: Working with others gives children the opportunity to practice sharing\, turn taking and cooperation. \nLanguage: Children are exposed to new vocabulary such as names of kitchen tools\, ingredients\, cooking methods\, and you can encourage conversations about food likes\, dislikes and experiences children have with food. \nProgram Details: \nFor children 1-6 years of age. \nSpaces are limited!
