Her work has appeared in Prairie Journal\, Tower Poetry Society\, and Voicings\, and she has been longlisted for The League of Canadian Poets Gerald Lampert Memorial Award. Mary will share selections from her collections What Fox Knew and Moving Upstream\, along with new works. \nSusan Wismer — Based in Collingwood on Treaty 18 territory\, Susan’s poetry is a graceful meditation on women\, aging\, love\, loss\, and redemptive friendship. SUMMARY:Home Horizon Youth Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Our Your S.A.F.E. outreach program works with additional vulnerable youth to identify safe living spaces and provides direction to assist them in regaining control of their lives. Our S.A.F.E. outreach programs serve youth aged 16-29. Since the launch of this program in July 2020\,we have served 127 youth\, with over 1085 service interactions (referrals\, goalsetting\, supplies\, workshops\, etc.)\, many in the Wasaga Beach area. \nThrough our outreach services\, we supply important items such as tents\, sleeping bags\, food\, hygiene products\, grocery gift cards\, masks & sanitizers\, jackets\, hand warmers\, clothes\, and much more. \nThe program also provides support and advocacy for mental health\, physical health (new family doctor)\, legal matters\, financial aid\, rental/tenant advocacy as well as referrals to other housing agencies. \nThe program has been an incredible success to date. It helps one of our most vulnerable populations to avoid falling through the cracks\, providing every individual who come in contact with our outreach worker the chance to feel safe and heard. We work with all marginalized youth regardless of their race\, gender\, sexual orientation\, family situations and socio-economic background. \nOur programs are designed to assist youth struggling with social inequalities with tools that will help them to cope and grow stronger to manage and address any bias they face in life.

DESCRIPTION:Homeschool families are invited to join us at the library for a live virtual event.\n\n\nWBPL is excited to host a live virtual presentation with Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Joshua Kutryk. \nJoshua Kutryk will be the next Canadian to live and work on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Starliner-1 mission. He will join us virtually to share his experiences and insights on space exploration. \nThis presentation is best suited for students in Grades 6–9\, but families and children of all ages are welcome to attend. \nRegistration required.

We’re fortunate to have a team right here in Simcoe County! \nStudents in Grades 7–12 from Collingwood\, Stayner\, Barrie\, Wasaga Beach\, and beyond can join the Cybergnomes to gain hands-on experience in areas like electrical wiring\, coding\, welding\, critical thinking\, and other STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts\, and Mathematics) skills. Each season\, the team designs and builds large-scale robots to compete in exciting challenges—sometimes even advancing to the FIRST Robotics World Championship!
