DESCRIPTION:Weekly meetings for those recovering from compulsive overeating. \nOvereaters Anonymous(OA) is a Fellowship of individuals who\, through shared experience\, strength\, and hope\, are recovering from compulsive overeating.  We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.  There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions\, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization\, political movement\, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.  Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviours and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.\nOA gathers weekly on Wednesdays in the Group Study Room at the Wasaga Beach Public Library from 6:30-7:45 PM.

SUMMARY:Author Talk: George Takach - Inspired by Taiwan
DESCRIPTION:Discover why Taiwan is a beacon for democracy in an increasingly unstable world and why this island should matter to Canadians.\n\n\nEnjoy an afternoon with former lawyer and now author and geopolitical analyst George S. Takach as he discusses his most recent book Inspired by Taiwan: Why Supporting Taiwan Matters for Global Democracy.  Using images from his book and travels\, George will highlight what Canadians need to know about the marvelous\, very relevant and dangerously situated country of Taiwan\, including the critical posture of the United States and President Trump towards Taiwan.  George makes the case that the world’s democracies should support Taiwan in order to keep the peace in Asia. George also argues that Canada has a lot to learn from Taiwan\, given Canada’s own challenges with a much larger neighbour that is threatening Canada’s own wellbeing. After his presentation\, there will be a chance for questions and discussion. \nGeorge will bring copies of Inspired By Taiwan (at a discounted price) for purchase and signing. All of the proceeds from the book’s sales go to Camp Scugog\, a charitable camp dedicated to serving kids in difficult  circumstances\, where George was once a camper. \nMore about the author: \nGeorge has undergrad and law degrees from the University of Toronto\, and an MA from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. He practiced technology law for 35 + years as a partner at McCarthy Tétrault. During his legal career he was also an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School for 22 years\, a columnist for Lexpert Magazine\, and wrote three books on tech/law topics. Currently he is a Senior Fellow of the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History at the University of Toronto. George now writes books on technology and geopolitics for a general audience\, to include his book Cold War 2.0: Artificial Intelligence in the New Battle Between China\, Russia and America.
