Join Kelly in-person on Wed. Oct. 23 from 2-3 PM. She will discusses her organic connection to glass and her meticulous process to explore each piece as it evolves and transforms to a visual delight in a variety of forms and possible applications. Kelly will discuss basic principles of kiln fused glass, how she selects glass based on the final design elements and share a visual sampling of the extensive nature of her work.

Kelly will provide an inside peak of her in-home studio and the creative process undertaken in her most recent commission of “Beyond Books” to commemorate the opening of Wasaga Beach’s new library.

A breathtaking commissioned window of Kelly’s work, donated to the new Wasaga Beach Public Library by the Friends of the Library will be unveiled as a permanent installation on September 18th, 3-4 PM 2024 for all to see. This generous art donation is sure to be the gathering place of conversation and the starting place of wonder, inquiry and inspiration for library visitors for years to come.

About the artist:
As an artist and designer, glass continues to capture Kelly’s imagination and is her preferred material for expression and exploration. The beauty, colour and textures of glass takes on a life of its own as it interacts with different light sources. Kelly works with glass in a variety of ways which includes traditional stained glass techniques and kiln fused glass whereby layers of meticulously hand cut glass are fired in a kiln.

Whether they be architectural applications, home decor, mosaics, sculptures, autonomous panes or jewelry, her designs incorporate organic forms and or geometric patterns often with a sense of movement or optical vibration.

Her architectural experience and art training help support both an analytical and intuitive process to provide a truly unique crafted piece.
