Woven Word Symposium: Writing for Monologue Performance

All writers welcome for an intro to monologue writing.

Location: ReMax Room: South Side – Wasaga Beach Public Library

Learn the art of crafting a well-structured and compelling theatrical monologue with actors in mind. This interactive workshop will teach you how to write so that an actor knows exactly how to convey the emotions, actions, and nuances you intend. Discover tips for blending character development with theatricality to bring your monologue to life. Participants will actively engage in writing exercises, so please bring a notebook or device to write with.

  • Open to all: You don’t need a WBPL library card to join.
  • Free to attend
  • Regional Writers Club members are welcome.

This workshop is offered in partnership with Wasaga Community Theatre.

 

About the Woven Word Symposium:

The Woven Word Symposium, taking place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, is a full-day celebration of storytelling and writing. It brings together authors and aspiring writers for a variety of workshops and events. Participants can explore topics such as writing for children, self-publishing, and memoir writing. The day also offers opportunities to join an open mic poetry session and attend a slam poetry performance. In the afternoon, a Reader’s Marketplace will showcase children’s, adult, and young adult authors, with their books available for purchase. The event will conclude with a special evening workshop on writing for monologue performance.
