Our Town: Stories from Wasaga Beach is a community storytelling project that invites older adults to learn how to create podcasts while sharing the people, places, experiences and moments that have shaped their lives.
Whether you’ve lived in Wasaga Beach for decades or have recently made it your home, your story is part of our community.
Through free workshops, hands-on training and podcast recording opportunities, participants will learn new digital skills, meet new people, and help create a podcast that celebrates the voices of Wasaga Beach.
How does it work?
Throughout the project, participants can take part in free workshops, learn new podcasting skills, borrow recording equipment, and work alongside library staff to create podcast episodes celebrating the people and stories of Wasaga Beach.
Whether you want to tell your own story, interview others, or simply learn something new, there’s a place for you.
Who can participate?
This free program is designed for older adults living in Wasaga Beach area who are interested in:
- Sharing personal stories and experiences
- Learning how to record and edit audio
- Meeting new people
- Exploring a new creative hobby
- Preserving memories for family and future generations
- Celebrating the people and organizations that make our community special
Whether you’re comfortable behind a microphone or have never recorded your voice before, everyone is welcome.

What will participants learn?
Participants will have opportunities to learn:
- Podcast planning and storytelling
- Interviewing techniques
- Audio recording
- Basic editing
- Working with portable recording equipment
- Sharing stories through sound
Participants may also have the opportunity to borrow podcast recording kits to continue creating stories outside of workshops.
