Travel by coach bus to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum that houses over fourty aircraft and many exhibits in tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced and flew these aircraft, and in memory of those who did not return.
We will learn about the museum’s collection of aircraft that were flown by Canadians and the Canadian military services from the beginning of World War II to the present, including other related aviation artifacts and memorabilia of significant historic importance to this period.
The trip will include a guided tour, a catered lunch under the wings of the planes, and an afternoon guest speaker who will speak of the valour of Flt LT David Hornell, RCAF who received a Victoria Cross award related to his last mission in search of enemy U boats in the North Atlantic.
Bus departure is from the RecPlex parking lot at 1724 Mosley St. at 8:30 AM and estimated return will be 5:30 PM (depending on traffic). On event day, please park near the sidewalk at the road (also where the bus will meet us).
This trip was made possible with funding from a Seniors Community Grant from the Government of Ontario. Stay tuned for details of WBPL’s remaining and upcoming October and November trips in this four-part trip series as part of our “Seniors Cultural Connections” Project.
