Join WBPL at the Town of Wasaga Beach on Remembrance day in the Council Chamber Room of Town Hall.
We will begin promptly at 10:30 AM as we honour those who have served our country and pause for a moment of collective silence and personal reflection at the 11th hour. During our time together we will also hear from two guest speakers who will share their personal experiences: Master Corporal Julien Dickie and Major (Retired) Robert Lidstone.
All are welcome. Registration is encouraged so that we may alert you of any event changes.
About our speakers:
Major (Retired) Robert Lidstone: has participated in both classic and complex peacekeeping operations. Since retirement in 2000, he has worked in various NGOs and international organizations in conflict and post-conflict societies. He also delivers pre-deployment training to the armed forces of various nations (mostly Asian) as part of the Global Peace Operations Initiative. Major (Retired) Robert Lidstone is a speaker with The Memory Project of Historica Canada.
Master Corporal Julien Dickie: is an Avionics Technician (he fixes helicopters). He has been serving since 2008. His first posting was to 443 MH Squadron in Victoria BC, and he has been deployed several times over seas on the back of a boat on missions involving the strengthening of ties with other NATO countries. He will speak about the importance of families in the CAF and what they sacrifice to make their missions possible, as well as touch on Canadian values and the importance of strengthening relationships with other countries.
