The Wasaga Beach Public Library is pleased to welcome award-winning Canadian author Terry Fallis for a special author talk on Thursday, July 9 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Known for his trademark wit, engaging storytelling, and unforgettable characters, Terry Fallis has become one of Canada’s most celebrated contemporary authors. A two-time recipient of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Fallis has written ten national bestselling novels, including six #1 bestsellers.
During this engaging evening, Terry will discuss his writing career, creative process, and latest novel, The Marionette. The novel introduces readers to James Norval, a world-famous thriller writer whose life takes an unexpected turn from fiction to reality when he becomes entangled in the dangerous world of international espionage. Combining Fallis’ signature humour with a gripping, high-stakes plot, The Marionette is a thrilling read for fans of suspense, intrigue, and clever storytelling.
Terry’s literary career began with The Best Laid Plans, which won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour in 2008 and was selected as the winner of CBC’s Canada Reads in 2011. The novel was later adapted into a six-part television miniseries and a stage musical. He earned his second Leacock Medal in 2015 for No Relation and continues to captivate readers with his unique blend of humour and heart.
In addition to his work as a novelist, Terry has written for numerous respected publications, including Maclean’s, Canadian Geographic, Reader’s Digest, Toronto Life, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, and The Toronto Star. He also teaches in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies. His eleventh novel, An End in Itself, is scheduled for release in November 2026.
Copies of The Marionette and a selection of Terry’s other books will be available for purchase at the event.
