From Icons to Irises: The Art of Betty Dubrick

The Wasaga Beach Public Library is proud to present From Icons to Irises: The Art of Betty Dubrick, a vibrant and heartfelt exhibition running from October 2 to November 4, 2025 in the WBPL Gallery.

About the Artist

Betty Dubrick has been immersed in art for as long as she can remember. Her journey began in London, Ontario, where she studied Visual Arts and Art History at H.B. Beal Secondary School. Under the mentorship of renowned artist Helen Gardner, Betty refined her skills in watercolour and was encouraged to join the Stratford Arts Guild.

Over the years, Betty has expanded her practice to include oil, acrylic, and mixed media. Her creative voice draws inspiration from two distinct influences: the rich decorative style of Gustav Klimt, which shines through in her floral works, and her time at a monastery in Woodstock, where she explored the spiritual world of religious iconography.

Now a member of the Wasaga Artists collective, Betty has contributed to group shows, but this marks her first solo exhibit, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the full breadth of her artistry.

The Exhibit

From Icons to Irises showcases a diverse collection of works that trace Betty’s lifelong journey of artistic expression. Viewers will discover shimmering florals alive with Klimt-inspired patterns alongside powerful, meditative icons rooted in faith and tradition. Together, these works tell the story of an artist deeply connected to beauty, symbolism, and the human spirit.

Giving Back

In keeping with her generous spirit, all proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to local charities that support the homeless community. By visiting the gallery, guests not only experience art but also help make a difference close to home.
