The Wasaga Beach Public Library is inviting the community to come together for an inspiring afternoon of poetry on Sunday, April 19, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the REMAX South Room.
Held in celebration of National Poetry Month, Open Mic Poetry will spotlight both published and unpublished poets from across the Georgian Bay area as they share original work in a welcoming, community-centered setting.
The event will feature a lineup of local voices “passing the mic” and offering readings of their own compositions, creating a space where written and spoken word can be experienced together. Audience members are also warmly invited to attend and enjoy an afternoon of live poetry in a supportive atmosphere.
The program is open to both readers and audience members. Those wishing to read will be asked to register in advance and indicate their role when signing up. Each reader will have approximately five to six minutes to share their work, helping ensure as many poets as possible have the opportunity to participate. A tentative reading order will be shared with readers on Monday, April 13.
Members of surrounding writing groups are also welcome to take part, and a WBPL membership is not required to register for this event.
Whether you are a poet, a lover of live readings, or simply curious to experience the creative talent in our region, this event offers a meaningful way to celebrate poetry in community.
