The Wasaga Beach Public Library is proud to present The World as I See It, a captivating photography exhibit by local artist Stephen Bridgett. This collection reflects a lifelong passion for image-making and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

About the Artist

For Stephen Bridgett, photography has always been more than just pictures—it’s been a way of seeing. Inspired by his father, also a photographer, Stephen recalls childhood days spent in the darkroom, watching images slowly appear in trays of developing chemicals. He fondly remembers saving his paper route earnings to have his own rolls of film developed, many of which he still treasures today.

After a career spanning both the military and the software industry, Stephen returned to his early passion upon retirement. For the past 15 years, he has dedicated himself to refining his craft, curating his work with a discerning eye into a body of images he is proud to share.

The Art of Landscapes – A Moment in Time

Stephen describes photography as a window into the soul. For him, pressing the shutter is not just about documenting a scene—it is about translating an experience, a feeling, into an image that resonates with others.

His landscapes capture fleeting, intimate moments in nature: a leaf, a tree, a sweeping horizon. Whether grand or small, his work reflects his belief that “the closer one looks, the more one sees.” Every photograph is carefully crafted through a trilogy of process—mastering the science of equipment, capturing the image with intent, and then bringing it to life through thoughtful processing.

The result is a collection that not only depicts the world but expresses his gratitude for it.

In addition to his exhibit, Stephen Bridgett will be sharing his knowledge through a two-part workshop at the Wasaga Beach Public Library.

Intro to Digital Photography: Teens & Adults
Saturdays, September 6 & 13, 2025 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM

This hands-on workshop is designed for beginner DSLR owners ready to move beyond the “auto” setting. Participants will explore camera modes, exposure, lighting, composition, and storytelling techniques—all with guided practice.

Workshop highlights:

Session 1 (Sept 6): Exposure Triangle, Camera Modes & Settings, Hands-On Shooting

Session 2 (Sept 13): Light & Focal Length, Storytelling, Final Shooting Challenge
