The Bookmobile Returns for the 2024 Season with a New Format & Expanded Outreach

Get ready, book enthusiasts! The Bookmobile is hitting the road once again, and this year, we’re shaking things up with a fresh new format that’s sure to delight readers of all ages. Buckle up as we embark on a journey filled with free books, community engagement, and endless opportunities for literary exploration.

In previous years, the Bookmobile has been a beacon of literary adventure, offering a curated selection of books for borrowing from the library’s collection. But for the 2024 season, we’re shaking it up by transitioning to a free book giveaway model. That’s right – a free book with every visit! Whether you’re a voracious reader or just starting your literary journey, the Bookmobile is your one-stop shop for literary treasures to take home and keep at no charge.

But that’s not all. The Bookmobile is more than just a mobile library – it’s a hub of connectivity and community engagement. With free Wi-Fi available at our stops (where signal is available), visitors can surf the web, download e-books, or connect with friends and family online. Need a break from the sun? Step inside our cozy lounge area, where you can relax, cool off, and immerse yourself in the world of books.

And here’s the cherry on top: visitors will also have the opportunity to return books borrowed from the library at Bookmobile stops, making it more convenient to return library resources wherever you live in town.

Of course, you’ll find us at local schools, childcare centers, and community events throughout town. Catch us at our regular stops across town, including Oakview Park and the Farmers Market on Tuesdays (1-7 PM) and the Klondike Sports Park on Wednesday afternoons (1-7 PM) and evenings, where we’ll be visiting summer campers and sports leagues alike. This year, the Bookmobile is expanding its reach with more stops around town. Don’t miss our new community outreach routes on Thursdays, where we’ll be serving those who may not have direct access to the library. We’ll visit local food banks, along with senior and community housing residences.

And if you have a community event coming up and want the Bookmobile to be a part of it, we’re all ears! Reach out to our Public Services Coordinator via email at publicservices.wbpl@wasagabeach.com or by phone at 705.428.5481 x2413, and let us know how we can help.

So, what are you waiting for? Join us as we hit the road for the 2024 season, spreading the joy of reading and community connection wherever we go. See you on the Bookmobile!
