WBPL wants to celebrate the beauty of Wasaga Beach; it’s people, places and critters.

Enter the Wonders of Wasaga Photo Contest to win prizes and notoriety with your amazing photographs taken in and around Wasaga Beach. Selected images will be enlarged and hung on display in the new library.

Here’s how you can enter:

Terms and Eligibility to Enter

• The Wonders of Wasaga Photo Contest is offered through Wasaga Beach Public Library (wasagabeach.library.on.ca) and is open to all Wasaga Beach residents.
• Employees of WBPL and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) or members of the same household (whether related or not) of employees, as well as members of the WBPL Board are not eligible to enter.
• The contest will end on September 30, 2023 at 23:59:59 (EST).
• Entries become the property of WBPL and will not be returned.

Entry Requirements

• Participants are able to submit a maximum of one photo per category:
  • People of the Beach – unique portraits or candid shots of people in our neighbourhood
  • The Great Outdoors – landscapes, beachscapes, or other photos of our natural environment
  • Wasaga Pets & Wildlife – photos of creatures great and small that live in our community
  • Action & Adventure – amazing images of living life to the fullest in Wasaga Beach

• Digital photo requirements:
  • A jpeg file with a resolution of not less than 300 dpi at a minimum size of 5×7 inches (1500 pixels x 2100 pixels, or greater).
  • Jpeg file must not exceed 20 MB.
  • Photos not meeting these requirements may be excluded from the contest.
  • Submissions should not include copyright-protected material.

How to Enter

• Participants must enter via email by sending images to: wondersofwasagacontest@gmail.com
• Participants must include an entry form (or entry form information including – name, address, phone #, email address, category entered, and photo description) with each submission.
• Participants must include a signed model release form with their entry if applicable.
• Photos can be submitted until September 30, 2023.

Judging and Prizes

• In early October 2023, a judging panel will review all entries, and will select a winner and honourable mentions in the four photo categories.
• Winning entries will be awarded a $250.00 prize package.
• Winning photos and honourable mentions will be printed and showcased in the new Wasaga Beach Public Library building at 544 River Road West. As well, digital photos will be showcased on the library’s website wasagabeach.library.on.ca.
• Judging will be based on criteria such as photo composition, originality, and how well the submission reflects the selected contest category’s themes.
• The prizes are non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded. The prizes are guaranteed to be awarded.
• The winners will be notified by email and/or phone call shortly after they have been identified as winning entries.
• If a prize is unclaimed, the next eligible person will qualify to win it. The winners will receive their prizes at a special ceremony in November 2023 to be held at Wasaga Beach Public Library.

Conditions

• By entering, the entrants warrant and represent the following with respect to their submission:
• The entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the submission and its copyright;
• The photo was taken solely by the entrant;
• The submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties;
• Any third parties appearing in the submission have given their consent to having their photo be entered into the contest.
• By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless WBPL from any claims, losses and damages arising out of their participation in this contest or any contest related activities.
• By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge and agree that all submissions may be reproduced and utilized without notice or compensation by WBPL – in the building, on the website, for promotions or marketing materials.
• Submissions may be altered, reformatted, rearranged, combined with other materials and/or otherwise modified. Participation in the contest constitutes the photographer’s permission for WBPL to use their names, photographs, biographical information, and/or any statements made by the participant regarding the contest without notice or additional compensation.
• WBPL reserves the right to refuse submissions deemed inappropriate or offensive in any way.

Right to Cancel or Suspend Contest

• If for any reason WBPL is not able to run the contest as planned due to technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of WBPL that will negatively impact the proper conduct of this contest, WBPL reserves the right to terminate or suspend the contest.
• Furthermore, WBPL can disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process.
